Much of the creative energy which existed in the north of Carmarthenshire in the 1950s and 1960s largely emanated from Cwmdwr, the smithy—farmhouse located two miles north west of Llanwrda. It was there that Madam Cassie and Mr ]ack Simon organised musical tuition for pupils from far and wide. This musical talent was then focused towards public performance in eisteddfodau and charity concerts held throughout Wales. Many individuals went on t careers on stage, TV and radio. This short account traces the history of the choir from its creation in the late 1940s, through the next exciting decade and up until the retirement of the Simons in the mid 1960s.
